Sconex (2004)
Sconex.com is a social networking site targeting high school students.
Members set up profile pages, share photos, post thoughts in an online journal, leave messages on their friends’ blackboard, search for friends, add their class schedule, test to see if someone likes them, and make/take fun quizzes.
Sconex.com also makes it easy to find friends by searching by name, year, gender, and school. Members may also add as many “friends” to their list even if they don’t know the person.
Members may also find out what others think about various topics – like favorite movies – by searching nationwide statistics.
Members may also create their own quizzes to find out what other members are thinking.
In the past, students could only join by be invited by other Sconex members. However, the site is now open to anyone.
Demographics
Sconex.com has roughly 100,000 unique monthly visitors from the United States. The site skews Female (67%), and a majority of members are African American (58%) and Hispanic (26%).
